Our Key People

Craig R. Morris, CPA

 

Craig R. Morris is the Principal and owner of our Firm. He graduated cum laude from Bernard M. Baruch College of the City University of New York in 1974 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and was selected for membership in Beta Gamma Sigma, the honor society for collegiate schools of business. He then spent seven years with the Big Four, international accounting firm now known as Deloitte. He left there to begin Craig Morris & Company in 1981.

Craig has extensive experience in all levels of client service, from individuals to large publicly held corporations. In addition to servicing the needs of ongoing tax and accounting clientele, Craig has handled various levels of specialized tax planning associated with selling or buying businesses, formation of entities and the preparation and filings of initial public offerings.

Craig has been an adjunct professor of accounting in the graduate and undergraduate divisions of Adelphi University. He has been active in the Nassau Chapter of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, serving as Committee Chairman, lecturer, Executive Board Member and Officer since 1983. He currently serves as Chairman of the Continuity of Practice Committee, was Chapter Vice President and received the prestigious Distinguished Service Award, for many years of devotion to the profession. Craig completed a six year term as Treasurer of the Nassau Chapter of the American Red Cross, where he was honored for volunteer leadership and dedicated service; and has served the Long Island Association Small Business Council Programs and Services Committee. He is licensed to practice as a CPA in New York and Florida, and previously held Series 6, 63 and 65 securities licenses, as well as the Personal Financial Specialist credential. Craig is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Terry Wechsler, CPA

Terry Wechsler graduated from Binghamton University in 1985 with a Bachelor Degree in Accounting from the School of Management. Terry began her career with Deloitte, where she served through 1989 as a senior auditor. While there, she was responsible for audits, internal control reviews, management and operational evaluations and tax services in retail, manufacturing, publishing and other industries.

Through 1997, Terry served as controller of a retail apparel company, where she was responsible for accounting and reporting, management information systems, strategic planning and budgeting. She then spent the next four years as controller of Cohen’s Fashion Optical, where her responsibilities expanded to include oversight of accounting, insurance, payroll, benefits and financial controls.

Prior to joining Craig Morris & Company in 2008, Terry spent four years assisting the U.S. division of an international company, coordinating the independent audit function and handling accounting and bookkeeping services, financial reporting, sales, payroll, and corporate tax matters. Terry is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Ginette Morris

Ginette Morris has been with our firm since 1985, providing both our firm and our clients with administrative and bookkeeping services. She has been the primary contact for many of our largest clients, including a consortium of 150 auto dealers in the Tri-state region, not-for-profit organizations and commercial enterprises. Ginette is a notary public in New York State and has been active in her community, serving as religious instructor to elementary and middle school children.
